Dunes is built onto the beach itself, with a deck, a lawn and a play area in the sand that has occupied several generations of Hout Bay children while their parents finished lunch.
The menu is broad and unfussy — seafood, burgers, pizza, breakfast. Nobody comes here for the cooking alone; they come because you can sit with your feet almost in the sand and let the children go.
Exposed to the southeaster in summer.
