Horse riding on the beach

Guided rides along Hout Bay Beach and into the dunes, run by local stables in the valley.

The flat expanse of Hout Bay Beach is made for horses, and several stables in the valley run guided beach rides — typically an hour or two, suitable for beginners, with longer options for people who can actually ride.

Late afternoon rides finish in the light coming off the water, which is the version worth booking.

Rides are weather- and tide-dependent and book up in season. Contact the stables directly rather than through an agent.
