World of Birds
Large walk-through aviaries and a monkey jungle in the valley. The reliable rainy-day answer with children.
World of Birds is a sanctuary in the valley with walk-through aviaries you move through rather than look at, plus a squirrel monkey enclosure that you also walk through.
It is old-fashioned in a way that works — mature planting, shade, paths that wander. Allow two hours; with small children, allow more and expect to be there at feeding time.
Much of it is under cover or under canopy, which makes it one of the few genuinely good options in Hout Bay when the weather closes in.
