Duiker Island seal cruise

Duiker Island sits just off the Sentinel, a low granite outcrop entirely occupied by Cape fur seals. Boats leave from Hout Bay harbour and take roughly forty minutes return.

You do not land — the trip is a slow circuit of the island, close enough to hear and smell the colony, which is a substantial part of the experience. Kelp gulls and cormorants work the same rock.

Several operators run the route with similar boats and prices. Trips are weather-dependent and cancel in a big swell. Morning is usually calmer than afternoon.
